This simple combination of mayonnaise, ketchup, and a few basic seasonings makes a tasty dip or spread for burgers and sandwiches. It’s also a great dressing for a tossed salad. Add a few tablespoons of chopped dill pickles to make that you-know-who’s “secret sauce” for your burgers.

This chipotle aioli is another excellent option, especially if you will be using it as a sandwich spread.

To make a delicious “secret sauce,” add spicy pickle relish (e.g., Wickles) to taste, a teaspoon of Dijon mustard, and a few dashes of onion and garlic powders. Taste and adjust the sweet and tangy flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablespoons tomato ketchup (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce)
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup
  • Optional: few drops hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and corn syrup. Whisk or stir the sauce until smooth and well blended.
  2. Use as a dip for vegetables or a dressing, or try it as a sandwich spread.
