- 1 cup butter
- 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon table salt
- 3 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 300 F.
- Beat the butter and sugar in a bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla, salt, and melted chocolate and beat until blended.
- Stir in flour, mixing gently until thoroughly blended.
- Spread batter into a greased 9-by-13-by-2-inch baking pan.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the center is set.
- Cool in pan and cut into 1 1/2- x 2-inch bars.
- Carefully remove chocolate shortbread bars with a metal spatula.
