Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon table salt
  • 3 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted and slightly cooled
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  • Heat the oven to 300 F.
  • Beat the butter and sugar in a bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla, salt, and melted chocolate and beat until blended.
  • Stir in flour, mixing gently until thoroughly blended.
  • Spread batter into a greased 9-by-13-by-2-inch baking pan.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the center is set.
  • Cool in pan and cut into 1 1/2- x 2-inch bars.
  • Carefully remove chocolate shortbread bars with a metal spatula.
