Ingredient Notes
- Crescent rolls: Use refrigerated tubes for a quick and easy crust; press into a jelly roll pan and bake.
- Cream cheese: Soften fully for easier mixing; it creates a creamy base for the veggies.
- Sour cream or mayonnaise: Combines with cream cheese for a smoother texture—use whichever you prefer.
- Ranch dressing mix: Hidden Valley or similar dry mix gives the base its signature flavor.
- Chopped vegetables: Use a mix of colors and textures—raw and finely chopped.
- Shredded cheese: Optional, but a sprinkle of cheddar or a cheese blend adds richness.
Steps to Make Veggie Pizza
- Preheat oven and press crescent roll dough into a greased jelly roll pan, sealing seams.
- Bake the crust until golden brown and let it cool completely.
- In a bowl, beat the cream cheese, sour cream or mayo, and ranch mix until smooth.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cooled crust.
- Sprinkle chopped vegetables (and cheese, if using) evenly over the top.
- Chill until firm, then slice and serve.
Tips
- Seal the seams. Press together the perforations in the dough to prevent gaps in the crust.
- Cool the crust fully. Spreading the cream cheese mixture on a warm crust will cause it to melt.
- Chop veggies finely. Smaller pieces make it easier to slice and eat cleanly.
- Add herbs or spice. Try fresh dill, garlic powder, or a splash of hot sauce in the cream cheese mixture.
Recipe Variations
- Taco veggie pizza: Use sour cream instead of mayo and top with taco-seasoned ground beef, black beans, tomatoes, lettuce, cheese, olives, and green onions.
- Caprese veggie pizza: Add pesto to the base and top with fresh mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, basil leaves, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze.
- Greek style: Use a lemon-herb cream cheese base and top with cucumber, tomato, olives, feta, and red onion.
- Meat lovers: Add chopped deli meats or crumbled bacon for a heartier twist.
- Cheese lovers: Add shredded cheddar, Monterey Jack, or crumbled goat cheese for richness.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve chilled in small squares for parties or appetizers.
- Add it to a brunch buffet alongside fruit and pastries.
- Pair with a light soup or salad for a lunch option.
- Offer a few different versions on a platter for variety.
How to Store
Refrigerate: Store leftovers tightly wrapped or in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The crust may soften slightly, but it will still taste great.
Freeze? Freezing is not recommended, as the fresh vegetables and cream cheese layer do not hold up well once thawed.
