- 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 eggs
- 1 2/3 cups evaporated milk
- 1 cup dates, chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (or pecans)
- 1 pie crust, unbaked, 9-inch
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 375 F.
- Combine brown sugar, salt, flour, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Blend in the eggs, evaporated milk, dates, and nuts.
- Pour the mixture into the unbaked pastry shell.
- Bake the pie for 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Check the pie after about 30 minutes. Protect the crust edge with a pie shield or foil ring if it is over-browning.
- Serve this pie with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped topping.
