Ingredients

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the waffle iron.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs with the buttermilk until smooth.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients and stir until blended. Don’t overmix; there will be some lumps in the batter.
  4. Bake in a preheated waffle iron until waffles are golden brown.
  5. Serve waffles with syrup or fruit.

Variations

  • Add 1 tablespoon of finely grated orange zest or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
