Instructions

  • Preheat the waffle iron.
  • Tip: If your waffles tend to stick in your waffle maker, brush it with a tiny bit of melted butter or neutral oil.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk the eggs with the buttermilk and vanilla until smooth.
    3 large eggs | 1 1/2 cups buttermilk | 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, and melted butter; stir just until blended. Don't overmix; some lumps will remain in the batter. Let the batter rest for 5 to 10 minutes to fully hydrate.
    1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour | 2 tsp baking powder | 1 tsp baking soda | 1 tbsp granulated sugar | 3/4 tsp salt | 1/2 cup butter
  • Bake in a preheated waffle maker until waffles are golden brown.
  • Tip: If your waffle maker doesn't have a "ready" beep, watch the steam. When the steam stops billowing out of the sides of the iron, the waffle is usually crisp and done.
