This chocolate frosting is surprisingly easy to fix and wonderful on a cake or cupcake. It's made with cocoa.

  • Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
    5 tbsp butter
  • Add the cocoa powder to the melted butter and stir until smooth.
    2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Transfer the cocoa and butter mixture to a medium mixing bowl.
  • With an electric mixer on low speed, beat in about 1 1/4 cups of the confectioners' sugar along with 3 tablespoons of the milk. Beat in another 1 1/4 cups of confectioners' sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk along with the vanilla extract. Add more milk or confectioners' sugar as needed for consistency.
    5 to 6 tbsp milk | 1 tsp vanilla extract | 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
