The easiest way to cook bacon with less mess, less fuss, and less hands-on work, is in the oven. All you have to do is line a pan with foil and arrange the bacon in it, either right on the foil or on a rack. Baked bacon will cook a little more quickly if it is directly on the foil because it cooks in its own fat. If it’s cooked on the rack, it doesn’t soak up the excess fat.

Depending on the thickness of the bacon strips, it takes roughly 25 to 30 minutes in a 350 F oven. The baked bacon strips come out straight and perfectly cooked. When you begin to smell the aroma of sizzling, cooked bacon, it’s nearly done!

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F.
  2. Line a large rimmed sheet pan—you might need two—with nonstick foil. Oil or spray the foil with cooking spray if it isn’t nonstick. Alternatively, fit a cooling rack in the pan.
  3. Arrange the bacon in the pan or on the rack and bake for about 25 to 35 minutes, until golden brown and crisp.
  4. Remove the bacon to paper towels to drain.
  5. Pour the grease off into a jar or container and refrigerate or freeze.
