- 1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes
- 1 6-ounce can tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- 3/4 teaspoon dried leaf oregano
- 3/4 teaspoon sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- dash crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste (optional)
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a food processor or blender and process until smooth.
- Pour the sauce into a medium saucepan; bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Lower the heat and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Spread the sauce over a homemade or purchased pizza crust and add your favorite toppings.
- Makes 2 cups, enough for two 12-inch to 14-inch pizzas.
