Customizable. Swap toppings based on what you have.

Perfect for sharing. Makes a big batch ideal for gatherings.

Ingredient Notes

  • Graham cracker crumbs – About 16 full sheets; crush finely for the best crust.
  • Butter – Salted adds nice balance to the sweetness.
  • Sweetened condensed milk – Binds the layers together and creates the signature chewy texture.
  • Semisweet chocolate chips – Milk, dark, or even butterscotch chips work, too.
  • Coconut – Flaked or shredded; use sweetened unless you want it less sweet.
  • Nuts – Pecans or walnuts add crunch and richness.
  1. Melt the butter directly in the baking pan.
  2. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs evenly over the melted butter.
  3. Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the crumb layer.
  4. Add chocolate chips, coconut, and nuts.
  5. Press the toppings gently into place.
  6. Bake until lightly browned and set.
  7. Cool, slice, and enjoy.

Tips

  • Line the pan with parchment for easier removal.
  • Press the layers firmly so the bars hold together when sliced.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting.
  • Use a hot knife for cleaner slices.

Recipe Variations

  • Switch the chips. Use white chocolate, butterscotch, or peanut butter chips.
  • Tropical version. Add dried pineapple or chopped dried cherries.
  • Nut-free option. Replace nuts with crushed pretzels or extra coconut.
  • Extra chocolatey. Sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top after baking.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve with ice cream for a dessert plate.
  • Pair with coffee for an afternoon treat.
  • Add a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce over sliced bars.
  • Garnish with extra coconut for a pretty finish.

How to Store

Room temperature: Keep bars in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Refrigerate: Store for up to 1 week; they firm up nicely when chilled.
