Old-Fashioned Pie Crust Recipe

This recipe makes one pastry shell for a 1-crust pie. It's an old fashioned pie pastry recipe, made with lard, but you could use solid shortening instead.

- Mix flour and salt together in a mixing bowl. Cut lard into the flour mixture until crumbs are about the size of small peas. Add cold water, a little at a time, mixing quickly and evenly through the flour and lard mixture with a fork until dough just holds together in a ball. Use as little water as possible.
- Chill the dough and then roll it out to about 1/8-inch thickness.
- Line pie pan, allowing about 1/2 inch of the crust to extend over edges.
- Crimp edges as desired and bake or fill, according to recipe.
