  • 2 cups boiling water

Cream Cheese and Gelatin Layers

For Serving

  • Whipped topping or whipped cream, for serving
  • Sliced fresh strawberries, optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Put the gelatin powder in a bowl and add the boiling water; stir until completely dissolved. Refrigerate for about 1½ hours, or until the gelatin is partially set (thickened but not firm).
2 (3-ounce) packages strawberry gelatin powder (such as Jell-O) | 2 cups boiling water
  • Heat the oven to 350°F.
  • In a bowl, combine the crushed pretzels with the melted butter and granulated sugar; mix well. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of an ungreased 9-by-13-inch baking pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove the pan to a rack and let the crust cool completely.
6 ounces pretzels (crushed, about 2 cups) | 3/4 cup melted butter | 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • In a mixing bowl with an electric mixer, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the whipped topping and beat just until blended. Spread the mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust, making sure to seal the edges completely.
8 ounces cream cheese (softened) | 8 ounces frozen whipped topping (thawed)
  • Stir the frozen strawberries into the partially set gelatin mixture. Spoon the strawberry mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer.
2 tubs frozen sweetened strawberries (thawed, about 15 or 16 ounces each)
  • Refrigerate the dessert for at least 4 hours, or until fully set.
  • Cut into squares to serve. Top with whipped topping or whipped cream and garnish with sliced fresh strawberries, if using.
Sliced fresh strawberries (optional, for garnish) | Whipped topping or whipped cream (for serving)
