Quick Creole Sauce

This is an easy and tasty Creole sauce to serve with shrimp, sausages, chicken, or fish fillets. Serve it over rice for a tasty meal!

Ingredients
  

  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 can, 14.5 ounces petite diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pimiento
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

  • Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and celery; cook for about 4 to 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute longer.
  • Stir the remaining ingredients into the vegetable mixture and turn the heat to low. Simmer, uncovered, for about 15 minutes.
  • Add shrimp and sausage or serve with chicken or fish fillets.
