Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 8 ounces macaroni, uncooked
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 (8-ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp salt, or to taste
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Heat the olive oil in a Dutch oven or sauté pan. When the oil is shimmering, add the ground beef. Cook, breaking it up and stirring, for 8 to 10 minutes or until no longer pink. Remove the beef from the pan. Discard any excess grease, leaving about 2 tablespoons in the pan.

  • Add the macaroni, onion, and bell pepper; sauté in the meat juices over low heat until the pasta is golden yellow. Add garlic and cook, stirring, for 1 minute longer.

  • Return the ground beef to the pan. Add the tomato sauce, water, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce; stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the macaroni is tender. Stir occasionally and add extra water if necessary.
