These turkey burgers are flavored with hoisin sauce, cilantro, and green onions. Use turkey thighs for the juiciest and most flavorful turkey burgers.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ pounds ground turkey, preferably ground turkey thigh or 85% to 90% lean
  • 4 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • ¼ cup finely chopped green onion
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped cilantro leaves
  • ¾ tsp fine salt
  • ½ tsp ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Vegetable oil for the grill grate
  • 4 hamburger buns (for sliders, use 8 buns)
  • Lettuce, tomato slices, onion slices (optional), for serving

  • In a bowl, mix the ground turkey with the hoisin sauce, chopped green onion, cilantro, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  • Shape the meat mixture into four burger patties. Make a shallow indentation in each patty so the burgers cook evenly and don’t puff up in the center.
  • Tip: For slider-sized burgers, shape the mixture into 8 patties and use 8 slider buns.
  • Oil the grill grate with vegetable oil. Grill the turkey burgers over medium heat for about 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until the burgers reach at least 165°F on an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of the thickest burger.

  • Tip: Keep the grill at medium heat and watch the burgers carefully because the hoisin sauce can brown quickly.
  • Grill or toast the buns, if desired.
