  • Combine the cooled coffee, olive oil, red wine vinegar, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, coarsely ground black pepper, soy sauce, and brown sugar in a bowl. Pour the marinade into a large food storage bag or nonreactive container, then add the steak. Turn the steak to coat it thoroughly with the marinade, then refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours, turning occasionally.
    1 cup strong brewed coffee | 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil | 3 tbsp red wine vinegar | 2 cloves garlic | 2 tbsp Dijon mustard | 2 tsp coarsely ground black pepper | 1 tbsp soy sauce | 2 tbsp brown sugar | 1 1/2 pounds flank steak
  • Heat a gas grill to 450 or prepare a hot charcoal grill fire. Discard the marinade and grill the steak over direct heat for 4 to 6 minutes on each side for medium rare (130°F to 135°F).
  • Let the meat rest for about 5 minutes and then slice thinly on the diagonal across the grain.
