Instructions

  • Heat the oil in a large skillet or sauté pan over medium-high heat. Brown the ground beef, undisturbed, for 4 minutes. Break the beef up and add the onion and bell pepper. Continue cooking, stirring, for 3 to 4 minutes, until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are translucent. Add the garlic and sauté for 30 seconds more.
1 tbsp vegetable oil | 1 pound ground beef | 1 cup chopped onion | 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper | 1 tsp minced garlic
  • Add the rice, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and chicken broth; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until the rice is tender.
    1 cup long-grain rice | 1 tsp chili powder | 1/2 tsp ground cumin | 1/4 tsp smoked paprika | 1 pinch dried oregano | 1 tsp fine salt | 1/2 tsp ground black pepper | 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce | 1 1/2 cups chicken broth | 1 tbsp tomato paste
