Broccoli takes on Asian flavors with soy sauce, sesame oil, seeds, and a bit of sugar. This is an easy alternative to plain steamed broccoli.

  • Trim and wash the broccoli; drain.
    1 pound broccoli
  • Bring 1 inch of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add the broccoli to the pan. Cover the pan and reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook until just tender, about 6 to 8 minutes. Drain and transfer the broccoli to a bowl.
  • Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the sesame oil, vinegar, soy sauce, sugar, and sesame seeds. Heat until simmering and sugar dissolves. Pour the sauce over the hot broccoli, tossing gently to coat thoroughly.
    1 tbsp toasted sesame oil | 1 tbsp rice vinegar | 1 tbsp soy sauce | 3 to 4 tsp granulated sugar | 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • Serve immediately.
