Ingredients
  

  • Butter, oil, or cooking spray, for greasing the baking dish
  • 8 ounces lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 large jar spaghetti sauce, (about 26 to 32 ounces)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried leaf oregano
  • ½ tsp dried leaf basil
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Heat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 3-quart baking dish.

  • Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.

  • Cook the ground beef, onion, and mushrooms in a large skillet over medium heat for 6 to 8 minutes, breaking up the beef, until the meat is no longer pink and the vegetables have softened. Drain well, then stir in the spaghetti sauce, garlic powder, salt, oregano, and basil.

  • Spread a small amount of the sauce in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Layer one-third of the noodles, one-third of the remaining sauce, and one-third of the cheeses. Repeat twice.
    2 cups ricotta cheese | 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese | 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Cover loosely and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake 10 to 15 minutes longer, until bubbly around the edges.
  • Let the lasagna stand for 8 to 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
