  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Melt the chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. Remove it from the heat and stir in the half-and-half; set aside to cool.
    2 ounces bittersweet chocolate | 1 tbsp half-and-half
  • In a mixing bowl with an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy; beat in vanilla extract and the cooled chocolate. Add the flour and salt and stir until blended. Fold in the pecans.
    3/4 cup unsalted butter | 2/3 cup granulated sugar | 2 tsp vanilla extract | 2 cups all-purpose flour | 1/4 tsp fine salt | 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
  • Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and arrange them on the prepared baking sheets.
  • If the dough becomes soft while shaping, refrigerate it for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Bake the cookies for 12 to 14 minutes.
  • Roll the cookies in sifted confectioners' sugar while warm, then roll them again after they have cooled completely.
