Instructions

  • In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, chili crisp, honey or sugar, grated garlic, green onions, and sesame seeds. Whisk to blend. Taste after mixing. If the chili crisp is very salty, add a little more honey or a splash of vinegar to balance it.
    1/2 cup soy sauce | 1/4 cup rice vinegar | 1 1/2 tbsp sesame oil | 1 to 2 tbsp chili crisp | 1 tbsp honey or sugar | 4 to 6 cloves garlic | 3 green onions | 2 tsp sesame seeds
  • Stir the chili crisp before measuring so you get both the oil and crunchy bits.
  • Serve in small dipping bowls with dumplings, potstickers, egg rolls, or steamed buns.
  • For a deeper flavor, replace a tablespoon or two of the rice vinegar with Chinese black vinegar. It adds a slightly smoky flavor to the sauce.
