Ingredients

  • Butter or cooking spray for the pan
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp minced parsley
  • ¾ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¾ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 (16.3-ounce) can Grands biscuits, or similar

Recommended Equipment

Instructions

  • Position a rack in the center of the oven and heat to 350°F.
  • Spray an 8 1/2-by-4 1/2 loaf pan with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang. This will make it easier to lift the bread out later.
Butter or cooking spray for the pan
  • Heat the 4 tablespoons of butter in a small skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes, if using, and cook for 1 minute or until aromatic. Remove the pan from the heat and add the parsley.
4 tbsp unsalted butter | 1 tbsp minced garlic | 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional) | 2 tbsp minced parsley
  • Combine the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses in a bowl.
3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese | 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Slice each biscuit in half horizontally. Working through all the biscuits, brush the cut side with butter mixture and top with 1 to 2 tablespoons of cheese. Stack them as you go, always placing the next piece plain-side down onto the buttered layer below. End with the final piece buttered-side down, so both ends of the loaf are plain. Place the stacked biscuits sideways in the pan, laying them in sections if needed. Brush any remaining butter mixture over the top.

  • Bake the pull-apart loaf for 35 to 45 minutes, checking it after about 25 to 30 minutes. If necessary, cover it loosely with a sheet of foil to prevent over-browning. Test the loaf with an instant-read thermometer. It is done when it reaches 190°F in the center of the loaf.
  • Let the loaf cool for about 10 minutes in the pan. Serve warm.
