  • 4 slices bacon, diced
  • 1 1/2 pounds veal steak
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon Hungarian paprika
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream

Instructions

  1. Fry the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Transfer to paper towels with a slotted spoon.
  2. Cut the veal steaks into serving-size pieces and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  3. Add the veal steaks to the drippings and sear for 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Remove to a plate and set aside.
  4. Add the onions to the pan and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, until translucent.
  5. Add the veal back to the pan along with the paprika, chicken broth, and tomato sauce; bring to a simmer.
  6. Cover the pan tightly and simmer over the lowest heat for 30 to 40 minutes or until the veal steaks are tender.
  7. Remove the veal to a serving platter and keep warm.
  8. Add the cooked bacon and sour cream to the skillet and heat through.
  9. Serve the veal with the sour cream sauce over noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.
