Saucy Slow Cooker Pork Spareribs

A homemade maple barbecue sauce gives these tender slow cooker pork ribs fabulous flavor. Prep is easy, and cooking is effortless!

Ingredients

  • 2 racks spareribs (about 4 pounds)
  • 1 onion, cut into chunks
  • 2 cloves garlic, halved
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 2/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Put the ribs, onion, garlic, 2 teaspoons of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper in a large saucepan. Cover with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Boil sauce ingredients over medium heat until reduced and thickened, about 45 minutes.
  3. Transfer the ribs to the slow cooker. Add the sauce; cover and cook on LOW for 5 to 7 hours.
