If you’re tired of the same old steamed vegetable side dishes, try this easy lemon broccoli. Steam it in minutes and add some lemon zest and juice for flavor. Add a dash of garlic powder or a garnish of Parmesan cheese for even more flavor.

Even your picky eaters will approve of this broccoli! Make the dish with half broccoli and half cauliflower florets, if you like.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 ounces frozen broccoli florets or spears
  • 3 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest (finely grated)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper (or to taste)
  • Fresh lemon juice (to taste)
  • Optional: dash garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Put the broccoli in a steaming basket over simmering water. Cover the pan and steam for a few minutes, or until the broccoli is just tender. The broccoli should still be bright green.
  2. Combine melted butter, lemon peel, and pepper.
  3. Drain the broccoli; transfer to serving dish.
  4. Toss the broccoli with the lemon and butter mixture. Drizzle with a little fresh lemon juice, to taste. If desired, add a dash of garlic powder.
  5. Serve hot.
