  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 pounds beef, sirloin tip or round, cut in thinly sliced 2-inch strips
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 1/2 green bell peppers, cut into strips
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes
  • 1 beef bouillon cube or equivalent granules or base
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups wide noodles, about 6 ounces
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat; add beef strips and sprinkle with garlic powder. Sauté, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned.
  2. Remove meat from skillet; add onion and green bell pepper to the skillet and sauté for 2 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute longer.
  3. Return meat to the skillet along with tomatoes and bouillon cube. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Blend together the cornstarch, water, soy sauce, sugar, and salt. Add to meat mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Reduce heat and cook for 2 minutes longer.
  5. Meanwhile, cook noodles following the package directions; drain.
  6. Toss the hot noodles with the shredded cheddar cheese. Serve pepper steak with the cheddar noodles.
