Meatballs and gravy are a quick and easy preparation and they make a satisfying meal with cooked noodles or pasta.

  • 1/2 cup seasoned bread stuffing crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons minced onion
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 12-ounce jar mushroom gravy
  • 1/4 cup cream or evaporated milk
  • 8 ounces egg noodles (or pasta, cooked)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F.
  2. Line a jelly roll pan or 9-by-13-by-2-inch baking pan with foil; place a metal rack in the pan.
  3. combine stuffing crumbs, chopped onion, parsley, and milk in a medium mixing bowl. Let stand for a few minutes until the crumbs have absorbed the milk. Add ground beef, egg, and Worcestershire sauce; mix gently to blend and then shape into about 24 small meatballs.
  4. Arrange the meatballs on the rack in the prepared baking pan. Bake for about 25 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  5. In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the mushroom gravy and dill; add the meatballs. Bring the meatballs and sauce to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 10 minutes. Add the milk or cream and heat through.
  6. Meanwhile, cook the noodles or pasta following the package directions. Drain thoroughly.
  7. Serve meatballs with the cooked egg noodles or pasta.
