Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • Dash salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F. Butter a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Place a heat-safe bowl over simmering water. Add the butter and chocolate and cook, stirring frequently, until melted and smooth.
  3. Remove the bowl from the heat and add the granulated sugar. Beat until well blended.
  4. Stir the flour and salt into the chocolate mixture along with the vanilla.
  5. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl and then stir them into the chocolate mixture.
  6. Fold in the pecans.
  7. Turn the batter into the prepared pie plate and bake for about 25 to 28 minutes, or until the top is firm .
  8. Place the cake on a rack to cool. Serve warm or at room temperature with a scoop of ice cream or whipped topping.
