1/4 cup thinly sliced green onion (white and light green separated from dark green)
2 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickle
3 heaping tablespoons mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
2 slices bread
2 teaspoons butter (softened)
1/2 cup Gruyere (or cheddar cheese, grated)
Instructions
Flake the tuna in a medium bowl and add the celery, white and light green parts of the green onion, and chopped dill pickle. Add enough mayonnaise to make a creamy consistency. Add the Worcestershire sauce. Mix well and taste, adding salt and pepper as needed.
Place a rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat the broiler.
Toast the bread and spread each slice with butter. Place the slices on a foil-lined baking sheet.
Pile the tuna salad mixture on the bread.
Mound the cheese on the tuna salad.
Broil the tuna melts for 1 to 2 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
Garnish with the sliced dark green onion tops, and enjoy!
