Satisfy your sweet tooth with a slice of chocolate amaretto pie. This recipe features a luscious chocolate filling infused with the delicious taste of amaretto.

A chocolate amaretto pie garnished with whipped cream and chocolate

This recipe comes from an old Eagle Brand recipe brochure. Anything with both chocolate and amaretto liqueur has to be delicious! You could also use an alcohol-free amaretto syrup in this recipe.

Use a fully baked pie crust, or switch it up with a graham cracker or shortbread crust. It’s excellent warm or chilled and even better topped with whipped cream or chocolate curls!

What You’ll Like About This Dish

  • Easy to make. Just mix, pour, and bake—no complicated steps or special tools needed.
  • Elegant flavor. The almond liqueur pairs beautifully with rich chocolate for a grown-up twist.
  • Perfect for holidays. Great make-ahead dessert for gatherings, parties, or date nights.

Ingredient Notes

  • Pie crust: Use a fully baked pastry shell, graham cracker crust, or shortbread crust.
  • Cream cheese: Softened cream cheese gives the filling extra richness and structure.
  • Chocolate: Unsweetened chocolate adds deep cocoa flavor—melt it gently before mixing.
  • Sweetened condensed milk: Use the standard 14-ounce can of Eagle Brand or store-brand.
  • Amaretto: Choose a quality amaretto liqueur like Disaronno, or use an alcohol-free amaretto syrup.

Steps to Make Chocolate Amaretto Pie

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare your pie crust.
  2. Beat the cream cheese, melted chocolate, and salt until smooth.
  3. Slowly add the sweetened condensed milk and eggs, beating until creamy.
  4. Stir in the amaretto and almonds.
  5. Pour the filling into the crust and bake until set.
  6. Cool completely before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.

Tips

  • Cool before serving. Let the pie cool completely before slicing so it sets properly.
  • Make it nut-free. Omit the almonds if preferred, or substitute with chocolate chips for texture.
  • Decorate for presentation. Top with whipped cream, chocolate curls, or toasted almonds before serving.

Recipe Variations

  • Booze-free version. Use amaretto-flavored syrup instead of liqueur for an alcohol-free option.
  • Crust options. Try a chocolate cookie crust, graham cracker crust, or use a shortbread base for a different twist.
  • Extra chocolatey. Stir in 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips before baking for more chocolate texture.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
  • Add a drizzle of chocolate or caramel sauce for a decadent finish.
  • Garnish with chocolate curls or sliced almonds for presentation.

How to Store

Refrigerate: Cover and refrigerate the pie for up to 4 days. The flavor improves as it chills.

Freeze: Wrap the whole pie or individual slices in plastic wrap and place in a freezer container or bag. Freeze for up to 3 months.
