Combine brown sugar, salt, flour, and cinnamon in a mixing bowl. Blend in the eggs, evaporated milk, dates, and nuts.
Pour the mixture into the unbaked pastry shell.
Bake the pie for 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Check the pie after about 30 minutes. Protect the crust edge with a pie shield or foil ring if it is over-browning.
Serve this pie with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped topping.
Note: This is a fairly rich pie, so you might want to serve smaller portions.
