Chocolate Drop Cookies

Soft chocolate drop cookies are easy to make and versatile. Add white chocolate chips and chopped nuts or add semisweet chips.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts or chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  2. Grease baking sheets or line with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl with an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla and egg.
  4. In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, blending well.
  5. Fold in the chopped nuts or other additions.
  6. Drop from a teaspoon or cookie scoop onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for about 12 minutes, or until set.
  7. Makes about 3 dozen cookies, depending on size.
