Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups flour, about 11 1/2 ounces
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 8 ounces (1 cup) salted butter, melted
  • 3/4 to 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
    • Grease and flour a 10x15x1-inch jelly roll pan or sheet cake pan.
  2. Make the Batter:
    • Combine the flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl. Stir to blend, then set aside.
    • In a mixing bowl, using an electric mixer on high speed, beat the eggs for about 2 to 3 minutes, until they are light and foamy. Gradually beat in the vanilla, the brown sugar, milk, and melted butter.
    • With the mixer on low, add the flour mixture until well incorporated.
    • Fold the chopped pecans and chocolate chips into the batter.
  3. Bake:
    • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
    • Bake for 22 to 27 minutes, until nicely browned and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
