- 4 cups peeled, cored, sliced apples
- 1/4 cup water or apple juice
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup softened butter
- Preheat the oven to 350 F.
- Butter a 1 1/2-quart baking dish.
- Peel and core the apples. Slice the apples into thin wedges.
- Arrange the sliced apples in the prepared baking dish.
- Pour the water over the apple slices.
- In a bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cut the butter into the flour and sugar mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the sliced apples.
- Bake the apple crumble dessert for about 35 to 45 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
- Serve the apple crumble warm or at room temperature with ice cream or whipped topping.
