These air fryer hamburgers are perfect for weeknight meals, and the air fryer cooks them perfectly. There’s less mess from spatters, they cook quickly, and cleanup is a breeze. Our hamburger mixture is a simple combination of ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, and simple seasonings. I add shredded sharp cheddar for the extra flavor and moisture, but that is optional. You can add a slice of cheese just before they’re done if you like.

All you have to do to make these burgers is preheat the air fryer, mix the ground beef and seasonings, and cook! Flip them after 5 or 6 minutes and then test for doneness once they’ve cooked for about 10 minutes. The recommended minimum safe temperature for ground beef is 160 F (Note: 165 F for ground poultry).

Serve the burgers in toasted sesame seed or brioche buns with sliced toppings and your favorite condiments.

Recipe Variations

  • Spicy: Add a dash of cayenne pepper, hot sauce, or a chopped chipotle pepper in adobo sauce for a bit of heat.
  • Smoky: Add a teaspoon or two of liquid smoke and a dash of smoked paprika to the hamburger mixture.
  • Seasonings: Replace the onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper with 2 teaspoons of purchased burger seasoning.
  • Cheese: Finish the air fryer hamburgers with a slice of pepper jack, American, mozzarella, Muenster, or cheddar cheese.
  • Meat: Make turkey burgers by replacing the ground beef with ground turkey, and cook to 165 F.

How do I know the seasonings are right?

One sure-fire way of perfectly seasoning your burgers is to cook and test a small amount. Take a small piece of the burger mixture and fry it. Taste and adjust as needed. I also use this method whenever I make meatloaf or meatballs.
