Air fryer garlic Parmesan chicken wings are the perfect snack for 3 to 4 people, or you could serve them as a main dish for two. I like the air fryer for chicken wings because the super hot air flows around them, browning and crisping them beautifully. Serve the wings with this homemade ranch dressing, marinara sauce, pizza sauce, or your favorite dip.
Tips
- If you need to scale the recipe up for 3 pounds of wings, keep the first batch warm in a 200 F (90 C) oven while you cook the second batch.
- If your wings are whole, cut them at the joint to make two pieces—flat and drumette—then cut off and discard the wing tip.
Recipe Variations
- Spice: For a touch of heat, add a dash of cayenne or crushed red pepper flakes to the saucepan with the butter and garlic.
- Lemon: Add freshly grated lemon zest and chopped fresh thyme or oregano for lemon and herb flavor notes.
- Herbs: Add 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning blend to the saucepan with the butter for zesty Italian flavor.

- Cook Time: 25 minutes
- Total Time: 37 minutes
- Yield: 4 appetizer servings 1x
- Category: Chicken Wings
- Method: Air Fryer
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 pounds chicken wings (about 12 to 15 pieces)
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 4 tablespoons butter
- Dash kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon finely minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Prepare the Air Fryer: Brush the air fryer basket with a little oil or spray with ghee or olive oil. Preheat the air fryer to 400 F (200 C).
- Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken wings with paper towels to dry. Sprinkle with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper and garlic powder; toss with the baking powder.
- Cook: Arrange the wings in the air fryer, standing some of them up and leaning them against the side of the basket as necessary. You may have to cook two batches in a smaller air fryer.
Cook for 25 minutes, flipping every 10 minutes. If they are still a bit pale, flip again and cook for another 5 minutes or so. - Prepare the Sauce: While the wings cook, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1 1/2 minutes or until aromatic. Avoid overbrowning. Immediately transfer the sauce mixture to a large bowl.
- Sauce the Wings: Transfer the cooked wings to the large bowl with the sauce mixture and toss to coat. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese and parsley over the wings and gently toss until well combined.
- Serve: Serve with extra Parmesan cheese and ranch dressing if desired and enjoy!
