This apple dump cake has all the flavor you would expect from a delicious apple crumb or crisp dessert, and it is easy to fix and cook in the Instant Pot electric pressure cooker. Top it off with some cinnamon sugar and serve it with vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
I used premium apple pie filling in the recipe, the caramel apple flavor.

I used caramel flavored premium apple pie filling. Turn it into a greased 7-inch cake pan.
Top the apple layer with the well-blended dry ingredients.
Cover the dry ingredient layer with the butter. The butter should cover the dry layer pretty evenly, so make sure it’s cut into thin slices or shreds.
A silicone baking sling is a handy way to lower and lift the cake, but a foil sling is fine. Either way, just make sure the ends of the sling don’t get in the way of the sealing ring.

- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Pinch nutmeg
- 6 tablespoons butter (grated or sliced into very thin pieces)
Instructions
- Spray a 7-by-2-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking oil.
- Place a trivet in the Instant Pot inner pot and add 1 1/2 cups of water.
- Turn the apple pie filling into the prepared pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg. Blend well with a whisk or spoon and spread the dry mixture evenly over the apples.
- Top with the butter, taking care to cover the dry mixture as thoroughly as possible.
- Loosely cover the pan with foil.

- Secure the lid and ensure the knob is turned to the sealing position. Choose the pressure cook/manual button, high pressure, and set the timer for 40 minutes.
- When the time is up, remove the pan to a rack and remove the foil. Let the dump cake stand for about 10 minutes.
- Serve the apple cake with a big scoop of ice cream or whipped topping and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar or a pinch of nutmeg.
