Quick homemade chocolate sauce made with simple ingredients. Perfect for ice cream, pound cake, brownies, or fruit.

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tiny dash salt (1/16 teaspoon)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Combine. Mix the sugar, cocoa, flour, and salt together in a heavy medium saucepan. Add 1/4 cup of the milk and stir to a smooth mixture. Add the remaining milk and the vanilla; blend well.

  2. Cook. Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. As soon as the sauce comes to a boil, reduce the heat to the lowest and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.

  3. Cool and enjoy. Let the sauce cool. Enjoy the sauce right away or pour it into a jar and store it, covered, in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Drizzling chocolate sauce over ice cream.
