Cooking a whole chicken has never been easier or tastier with this air fryer recipe. Everyone will love the crispy skin on this delicious roast chicken.

  • 1 5-pound chicken, trussed
  • 1 tablespoon cold butter (diced)
  • 1 teaspoon herbes de Provence
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  2. Prep the Basket: Lightly oil the basket or spritz it with avocado or olive oil spray. Air fryer basket. 
  3. Prep the Chicken: Pat the chicken with paper towels to dry. Loosen the skin over the chicken breasts with a wooden spoon or another blunt utensil handle and tuck the butter pieces under it. Sprinkle with the seasonings. Place the chicken in the basket, breast-side down. A whole chicken, seasoned, in the air fryer basket.
  4. Air-Fry the Chicken: Cook at 360 F for 40 minutes. Carefully turn the chicken over and continue cooking for 20 to 30 more minutes or until it reaches 165 F in the inner thigh and thickest part of the breast. If it isn’t quite there, continue cooking for 5 to 10 minutes and check again. Rest the chicken on a platter.
