Orange zest adds flavor to the simple orange glaze for these carrots. Make the dish with baby carrots, sliced carrots, or carrot sticks. The carrots are finished with the buttery orange glaze. As the glaze cooks, it thickens and coats the carrots.

Simple Orange Glazed Carrots

Ingredients

  • 1 pound carrots, about 3 cups sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated orange zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Put the carrots in a saucepan and cover with water; bring to a boil over high heat. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook for about 15 minutes, or until just tender. Drain thoroughly.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the granulated sugar, orange zest, and salt. Add the cooked carrots and continue cooking until carrots are hot and glazed, stirring frequently.
