Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, 8 ounces
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 375 F.
  2. Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.
  3. In a mixing bowl with an electric mixer, beat the butter with the brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, sour cream, and vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt until well blended. Add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture and stir until well blended.
  5. Drop the cookie dough by heaping teaspoon or small cookie scoop onto the baking sheets, leaving about 3 inches between cookies.
  6. Bake for about 10 minutes, until lightly browned.
  7. Remove to racks to cool completely.
  8. Drizzle with chocolate glaze or decorate as desired.
