Tex-Mex Beef and Bean Burgers

These burgers have plenty of flavor and texture with the Tex-Mex seasonings, pepper jack cheese, and the addition of black beans or pinto beans. Grill or pan-broil these tasty beef and bean burgers.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:


Instructions:

  1. Drain and rinse the canned beans and transfer to a large bowl.
  2. Add the ground beef to the beans along with the chile peppers, salt, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, and pepper. Blend thoroughly.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into patties. With your thumb make a depression in the center of each burger. This will help keep them from puffing in the center.

Grill or Grill Pan

  1. Grill over high heat for about 3 to 5 minutes on each side.
  2. Add a slice of cheese to each burger and continue cooking just until the cheese has melted.

Skillet

  1. Add a small amount of oil to the skillet and heat over high heat. Add the burgers and cook for about 4 to 5 minutes on each side.
  2. Add a slice of cheese to each burger and continue cooking just until the cheese has melted.
  • Ground beef should be cooked to a temperature of at least 145 F.
  • Makes 8 servings.
