These flavorful corn sticks are great with chili, beans, greens, or any southern meal! The corn sticks are made with coarse or stone ground cornmeal and buttermilk.

Total Time: 27 minutes
Heat the oven to 450 F. Generously grease corn stick pans and put in the oven to heat while mixing the batter.
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
In another bowl, whisk the buttermilk with egg and shortening or bacon drippings. Stir into the dry mixture until blended.
Pour into the hot corn stick pans and bake for about 15 minutes, or until browned.
