Banana Cake With Crumb Topping

Crumb Topping

  1. Heat the oven to 350 F.
  2. In a mixing bowl with an electric mixer, cream butter and sugar until light; add eggs and beat well.
  3. Sift together the flour, soda, salt, and nutmeg; stir into the creamed mixture. Stir in the buttermilk, mashed banana, and vanilla.
  4. Spread batter in an 11-by-7-inch baking pan.
  5. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle over top.
  6. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until a wooden pick or cake tester inserted in center comes out clean.
