Baked Brown Bread

print This brown bread is delicious with baked beans. Feel free to add raisins to this easy bread.

Cook Time: 35 Minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes


Instructions:

  1. Heat the oven to 375 F.
  2. Sift flour with baking soda and salt. Add bread crumbs; blend well.
  3. Cut in shortening until fine and mixture resembles meal.
  4. Combine egg, milk, molasses, and vinegar. Add the milk mixture to dry ingredients; stir until blended.
  5. Turn into two greased loaf pans 8 1/2-by-4 1/2 inches. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes.
