Mississippi Fried Oysters

print These basic fried oysters are delicious with tartar sauce, remoulade, or a cocktail sauce. Enjoy with fries or use to fill a po' boy.

Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes


  1. Drain oysters and soak in the beaten eggs.
  2. Mix cornmeal, sugar, salt, pepper and flour.
  3. Dip oysters in cornmeal mixture and fry in deep shortening (heated to about 370 F) until golden brown.
  4. Drain on paper towels.
